Holiday on the Harbour Charity Ball

The Holiday on the Harbour Charity Ball is a private event organized primarily by a committee of approximately 15 volunteers. Tickets to the events are sold through committee members to friends and acquaintances. The quasi-private nature of the event provides attendees with an opportunity to reconnect with friends and to meet like-minded individuals. The event always happens between Christmas & New Years, with the date floating between the 27th & 29th depending on what day Christmas falls on.

Our mission is to raise money for local children's charities and to provide a venue for friends from away to have an opportunity to re-acquaint themselves with old friends and forge new relationships. It also allows us that chance to reminisce about stories and take a reprieve from our other-wise busy lives.

In the past, the event has raised money for the Nova Scotia Kidsport Fund, Daytripper's Children Charity, The Metro Youth Help Line, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, The Abilities Foundation (Easter Seals), Laing House, Prescott Group, Family SOS, the Progress Centre for Youth Intervention, the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and multiple memorial funds for friends that passed on well before their time. Those friends have included Robbie Thompson, James MacPherson, William Dennis, Renee Gallant & Gillian MacMichael. As we have been fortunate that the proceeds of the events are growing, it is only prudent to search for new worthwhile causes to support. I invite you to contact me directly under the contact tab or contact a committee member if you would like to suggest a local charity for consideration by the committee.

The net proceeds of the event is distributed to the various charities as a gift. The event is not a registered charitable organization, but has governance in place (thanks to White Burgess Langille Inman) to ensure that the proceeds are appropriately distributed.

The event would not be nearly as financially successful without the support of our sponsors. We are always looking for organizations that want to partner with the Charity Ball. Please contact me directly if your organization would like to be associated with the Holiday on the Harbour Charity Ball.

Cheers,
Andy
